How To Keep Your Guests Entertained

The biggest concern we always hear from our Brides is in regards to having guests wait around too long before the reception. “Do we really need an hour for pictures?” “We don’t want to keep our guests waiting.” Family and Bridal party photos are essential to the wedding day, but we do have some helpful tips to make that needed photo hour more fun for your guests and not as time consuming for you on your day!

Charcuterie Table

Work by The Charcuterie Sisters - @the.charcuterie.sisters

Providing guests with a grazing board is a great option to keep guests from getting hangry and it is such a fun addition to your day! Having a charcuterie available is an aesthetic, trendy, and functional treat for guests to enjoy! One of our favorite vendors for charcuterie boards is the Charcuterie Sisters!!

Live Music

Live music adds an ambiance to the cocktail hour and sets the tone for your wedding. The ways to personalize this time are endless, from an unplugged acoustic session, live jazz, or a string quartet. Having a DJ that can do both; play live music and sing is a budget friendly option! Check out our talented friend and wedding vendor DJ Blonde Beats for a unique twist on music during this time.

 Immediate Family Pics Early

A way to trim down your time pre wedding photos is to take immediate family photos prior to the ceremony. This eliminates time for not only your guests to be waiting but will allow your family to head into cocktail hour and socialize instead of standing outside longer. With the hot Texas summers, this is especially great for older family members to head inside earlier and great to eliminate time outside for the Bride and Groom.

Signature Cocktails

Having a menu of fun signature cocktails is a great way to personalize your day! This allows you to tie in your wedding colors, make a tribute to friends, family, or even honor a pet! The names and look of your cocktails make the hour personalized to the Bride and Groom and are even fun for photos later in the night!

Lawn Games

Lawn games provide entertainment for both the kids and the kids at heart. From massive connect four, giant jenga, to cornhole painted to the theme of your wedding guest love a good competition and allows for the time to pass by even faster!

Interactive Guestbook

Having an interactive, nontraditional guest book is a great option to keep guests entertained and for the Bride & Groom to be able to have something fun to look back on!! Having guests take and sign a polaroid, a game piece, an album of your first dance song, color by number artwork, or even leave a voice memo over the phone are creative ways to execute this!!

An engagement shoot, separate than the time you get engaged, is a great way to get pictures exactly how you want them! Engagement shoots should be customized to the couple and tell their love story with a location that is special to them! These photos can be used for Save the Dates, Wedding Invitations, and for prints at the ceremony and reception!

Getting ready photos are so sweet and personal for your wedding day! Detail shots of Grandma, Mom, Sister, or a Bridesmaid helping get the dress buttoned up, helping put shoes on, and putting jewelry on are all sweet and personal shots to capture before you walk down the aisle! Having fun during hair and makeup with your Bridesmaids or pinning boutonnieres on the Groomsmen or Dad are also great shots to get at the beginning of the day!

Individuals are something you might not think of on your big day, but something that’s important to capture! You want pictures of you looking your best to look back on from this day (and so does your mom ;))! Individuals can be taken right after getting ready, before, or after photos with the wedding party! Be sure to include trends or fun props like Arin with her disco ball! Also, this is a great time for Brides to get individuals in case you didn’t take bridal shots!

Creative and fun photos with the wedding party are a MUST to capture a memory of all of the Bride and Groom’s best friends! Walking photos with the Bride and Groom are always a win or a clustered cheering photo surrounding the lovebirds shows genuine excitement from everyone! Incorporating trends such as black and white blurry photos, backlight, and mixing up the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen, are all great shots to capture during this time before or after the ceremony! Be sure to trust your photographer as they are the professional and let them show off some of their creativity by directing your bridal party in unique and fun shots!

Champagne towers are on trend for 2022-2023 Brides! Stylized flash photography and an elegant but trendy look is such a fun addition to your day! The best time to take these photos are before or after your reception entrance! This “get the party started” vibe is a unique transition to capture and look back on! Bridesmaids and Groomsmen can also surround you for these shots and then join in by taking a glass!

Sunspots and golden hour pics are beautiful things to ask your photographer for during your sneak away photos as well! Look how dreamy this shot is, there is not much more to say.

Post Reception Sneak Away

4.30.22 Berry Wedding

Photography: BaileeStarrPhoto - @baileestarrphoto

Sneak away with your loved one at the end of the night to get some romantic shots of just the two of you.  Flash photography will be used for your reception and it’s fun to carry it into a moment with just the two of you and your photographer at the end of the night! Sneaking away to a unique, secluded part of your venue, or elevator are trending to capture this private moment!
